Thinking Positively will Spur Creativity and Focus

Photo via Flickr.

In a new study by Harvard Business Review, Dr. Paul Hammerness and Margaret Moore have found that negative emotions often sabotage our ability to stay focused on the task at hand. These negative thoughts are translated as signals of a threat, often interfering with the brain’s ability to solve problems, stay focused, or do other cognitive work. “Positive emotions and thoughts do the opposite — they improve the brain’s executive function, and so help open the door to creative and strategic thinking.”

You can test your positivity with this short quiz by University of North Carolina’s Dr. Barbara Fredrickson. To combat this Negative Ned/Nancy syndrome, the study suggests exercising, meditating, and sleeping well are all keys to positive attitude.

With this new app, gamers will be able to chat with their online friends, share their in-game pictures, catch the latest Steam sale, and check out the latest releases from their phone.

You can download it from the App Store now however, only a chosen few are allowed in their closed beta testing.

Just when you couldn’t get enough of CES 2012, check out our very on Jonny being interviewed by iTouchiPodz for the juice pack. Go Jonny go!

SCENTED cases? Now they really thought of everything. Smell-o-vision was supposed to come back, right? Right?

Nope, I was wrong. See ya later, going scuba diving with my iPhone.

To Mount Everest and Back

Our friends at RainOn climbed and blogged all the way up at MT. Everest thanks to our juice pack air. They successfully broke the record for going “peak to peak” from MT. Everest to MT. Lhotse in less than 24 hours. The climbing team reached the summit of Everest on May 19 between 7:30 – 8 AM and a day later made the summit of Lhotse at about 4:20 AM.

Quite the accomplishment. Congratulations guys!

Check out their website for a step-by-step Google Earth view of their journey.

The Mystery of the Supermassive Black Hole

An artist’s rendering of a black hole.

Ever wanted to see what a black hole from all those sci-fi movies looks like in real life? Well you might get the chance soon enough.

Researchers announced this month that their new Event Horizon Telescope will try to take the first pictures of a supermassive black hole. Described as an object from which nothing, including light, can escape, astronomers as recent as the 1970′s often argued whether black holes were theoretical constructs or real physical objects. Today however, we now know thanks to projects like this, that black holes are not only real, but are found throughout our universe.

ReBrick: My inner child just started doing backflips…

Back to the Future III by Fianant

Bust out those old legos! …who am I kidding, I never put mine away.

ReBrick is a new social media site launched by Lego to give their fans a special corner of the web to share their creations. By indexing content instead of uploading it, users can easily drag and drop pictures and videos from other sites like YouTube, Flickr, or elsewhere.

And no site can be complete without a Super Mario Brothers video.

Are You Ready for Apple’s “Smart Garments”?

Every wondered how technology can improve your game? Well Apple combined with Nike +iPod has your answer. Apple has just received a Grant Patent for “smart garments” that might be in your future running shoes, swim suits, sweat pants, shirts and more. These clothes would allow the users to connect to a possible “virtual trainer” to improve their performance with real time feedback through their Apple products.

“It would be beneficial for an individual participating in an outdoor endurance activity such as running, cross-country skiing, in-line skating, or outdoor swimming to be able to monitor his or her performance in metrics such as speed, distance, slope, elevation, equipment used (thereby correlating an individual’s performance to particular running shoes, for example).”

CES 2012 Recap

The scene is Las Vegas, NV: thousands of of marketers, tech junkies, journalists, and exhibitors flocked to 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show. mophie, being the tech-savvy go getters that we are, was in attendance of course.

With plenty to see from the top companies in the business, the mophie booth was packed with people all trying to get their hands on our new juice pack plus outdoor edition.

mophie loves you.

We also ran into some of our more famous fans like Project Runway winner Anya Ayoung-Chee, and the one, the only Justin Bieber. Please keep the teenage girl squealing to a minimum.

Just look at those silky locks…

We were able to proudly show off our new line of products featuring PRODUCT (RED). 5% of all net profits will contribute towards to the Global Fund to eliminate AIDS.

Thank you to all that stopped by our booth, we loved hearing all your stories and what you thought about our products. Our juice packs apparently don’t quit even when they’re dropped into a lake. One of you guys told us your iPhone lasted another whole day before it died (RIP) thanks in part to the juice pack case. I wouldn’t recommend trying to reenact this event for fear of your iPhone & mophie’s safety (or do it I dare you to, just don’t be expecting a new phone from us).

And to the dude who got a date out of helping a women recharge her iPhone with our juice pack, we’ll be expecting that wedding invite in the mail.

Heard of SOPA/PIPA? Well here’s why you should.

Hundreds of sites around the web today went black in protest of House Bill 3261 (SOPA) and Senate Bill 968 (Protect IP). Wikipedia, Reddit, Google, Craigslist, and even WordPress are among the sites that support the fight against the bills. With the blackout of Reddit, some might describe today as “The Single-Most Productive Day in the History of the Internet.”

All joking aside, SOPA & PIPA are bad for creativity and only serve to limit our freedom of speech. For more information on how this will affect you, check this short video out.
